Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID
PERFORMED AT THE MADDERMARKET THEATRE, NORWICH

Echo Youth Theatre started 2022 with a big, bold musical production of Disney’s A Little Mermaid.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a love story for all ages, set within a colourful, upbeat, feel good, musical extravaganza.
The size of the production, with a large cast, huge costume plot and the challenges of creating the iconic Disney imagery we all know and love, meant this show was a challenge. However, with a fantastic, talented cast who worked so hard, an amazing production team and the help of an army of parents, we made it!
The show played to great audiences and standing ovations each day and it will definitely go down as one of our most ambitious, colourful and extravagant productions!

Echo Youth Theatre’s production of the children’s classic is a hoot…the audience were instantly in the palm of the performers’ hands … superb singing voice and fantastic characterisation, we were forced to forget that this was a youth production.

An absolutely brilliant show ! All the leads were amazing fantastic acting & singing voices …. It was so lovely to be back in the theatre seeing such a hugely talented cast. Well done to the whole cast & stage crew. Looking forward to the next production.

The young cast put on a cracking show full of joy, energy and enthusiasm, and the clever use of Heelys – trainers with wheels which enabled the seafood to glide effortlessly across the stage – was inspired. Wardrobe and makeup merit a special mention. The fishy weaves were just fabulous….There was some real talent and great vocals on that stage..

The cast of this show may be young, between 9 and 17 years old, but they perform well together …They sang and danced with style throughout this convoluted story of a love affair between a mermaid and a land based prince in a manner that could melt the stoniest of hearts – even mine…..A mystical magic musical show that makes the best of the atmospheric Maddermarket Theatre space….In their five years of existence the Echo Youth Theatre team have built a strong reputation for staging enjoyable productions that really draw out the talent of their young performers who clearly enjoy the shows.
