AS YOU LIKE IT

by William Shakespeare

Adapted and Directed by Jessica Stewart

All the world’s a stage in Shakespeare’s ultimate comedy of mistaken identity.

Banished to the Forest of Arden, the brilliant Rosalind disguises herself as a man, only to run straight into Orlando—the nobleman who holds her heart. As Orlando plasters the trees with love poems, Rosalind launches a hilarious game of deception to test his devotion. Filled with vibrant characters, philosophical fools, and tangled romances, As You Like It is a joyful celebration of freedom, forgiveness, and love in the wild.

Echo Youth Theatre is looking for performers aged 11-18 years old to audition for this show.

Casting will be gender-free.

REHEARSAL DETAILS

Rehearsing at St Edmund’s Church Fishergate NR3 1SE

Rehearsals will be:

Mondays and Thursdays 6.30pm to 9pm

and

Sundays 11am to 3pm.

We do not routinely call all cast to all rehearsals and you are only required to attend the rehearsals you are called for.  A full schedule is available on the link below – this is a draft schedule and subject to change, so we will be expecting good availability for most rehearsals, particularly if you want to be considered for a principal role.

During the audition process, you will be asked to let us know of any planned absences – please know your commitments.

We will accommodate absences that we know about in advance.  Auditionees with excessive absences or who are unavailable for key dates may not be cast, but please come and audition if you are keen to be in the show and discuss any issues you have with us.

Please be honest about any prior commitments.  Frequent, undeclared absences could result in being removed from the show during the rehearsal process.  If your planned absences have been agreed upon by the team in advance and you are cast in the show, your absence will not be an issue.

Prior to our auditions, we will be holding an information evening for potential auditionees, plus parents.   There is no obligation and no need to have already booked an audition, just come along and see and hear what we are about.  We will talk about the show, roles, rehearsals and the audition process.

AUDITIONS

Auditionees will attend an individual audition and perform a monologue from the selected audition material for the audition panel.

To book your audition, select one of the 30 min time slots available on the booking form and your individual audition will be within that time slot.

30-mins sessions are available to choose between 10am and 7pm on Sat 11th Jul 26.

If you cannot attend at all on his date and are keen to be considered for the show, email [email protected] for alternative audition arrangements.

All auditionees need to prepare one of the audition pieces in the Audition Material Folder.

Notes for Auditionees:

Full details on what to prepare for the auditions are in the audition information folder – link below.

In order to fully commit to the audition, you are expected to prepare at least one of the audition pieces.

We will appreciate it if you have learnt the audition material.  However, you will be able to have it with you when you audition.  The important thing is for you to be familiar enough with your prepared piece that you can perform it well.

Whilst you may only audition for one character, you will be considered for other roles.  Choose the piece and character that you enjoy performing the most.

You may be asked to try out for other characters and sight read other scripts during the audition.
